Cultic Protest Against Wall Street

A great bit of footage from the Occupy Wall Street campaign.

In order to circumvent New York rules against amplification equipment, the crowd listening to the philosopher Slavoj Zizek repeat his words for him, sending it rippling back along the lines.

The effect of which, combined with Zizek’s shirt-tugging tick and the burring noises of support and finger-wiggles in the crowd, give the whole thing a fascinating, cultic feel. Oh yes, and the actual content is pretty interesting as well…
