Two 'kami' (spirits), Izanagi and Izanami, creating the world

At the risk of recommending yet more BBC output, Melvyn Bragg’s In Our Time series on Radio 4 is looking at Shinto this week (Thursday 22nd Sept, 9am). Colourful and interesting in its own right, Shinto also offers a chance to appreciate an alternative model of being ‘religious’ to the one we are used to for the most part in the modern West (a useful example of what John Gray was trying to get at in his recent Point of View on the subject).

If you miss the programme, the In Our Time archive is here.
